Mad(ison Avenue Advert.) Men

To the reality of where advertising truly began, the essence of it has been lost into the endless and irritating world of email marketing - otherwise known as spam. There are few groups that still stay persistent with ’pull strategy'rather than ’push strategy'- push can generally be defined as a strategy that will literally push the consumers into the markets whether they like it or not. The pull strategy will attract consumers to showrooms and retail shops through clever advertising with an intellectual appeal. Take for example auto-motives (VW) - they use the pull strategy. They don’t come on TV and put two clowns jumping up and down talking nonsense like they do for insurance.
Mad Men is a TV series which touches on this very era of the marketing bloom on Madison Avenue where marketing was the in thing - the new blue collared job preferred over those Wall Street money makers. Inspired by a true story of Sterling Cooper - one of the leading advert. agencies in the 40’s, it shows how the art work combined with the highlight sculptured marketing brain-storming team would delivered truly inspiring adverts that would make you walk a zombie to buy any product that it publicized. An off-beat story that has taken a new road to directing, acting, screenplay and story writing has whipped the cream of the cake of the 21st century film industry instead of falling prey to the usual reality show and a-day-in-the-life-of…… kind of series.
It has perfectly captured the heart and soul of the how the 40’s looked like. It portrays how the office’s experienced the chain smoking executives overhaul which has now changed into rooms of modern architecture of diet conscious CEO’s.
